Funny you should ask that today - we just finished a search tips page that
deals with the query only, and I was asking another user if they thought we
needed explanation of the form itself.  I guess the answer is yes ;-)  

I'll try to have that done sometime this week, in the meantime you might be
interested in the available query syntax...
