removing files from the list of filenames

i'm trying to use the glimpseindex '-D' option for removing files from the
list of filenames - how should glimpseindex be invoked when this option is
used? when i run the following command line:

glimpseindex -B -b -i -n -E -z -H $HOME/index -D /tmp/nonexistentfilename

the index file loses its previous contents when the argument file to '-D'
option does not exist. it seems like the argument is interpreted as a
directory to index. removing seems to work fine when the file exists.
