Compiling glimpse4.11 on DEC OSF
Hi!
I've just had a _wonderful_ experience trying to compile glimpse411 on a
DEC alpha running OSF1 V3.0/347
Basically, the dirent.h system header either has a syntax error, or is
corrupt...
Anyway, I munged the Makefile for the compress/ directory to
-nostdinc -I. -I/usr/include
thus allowing me to put my own dirent.h in the compress directory and
(hopefully) get it to work.
I ended up using the dirent.h (and the files it includes) from a linux2.0
system (attached) with a few modifications so that it would work:
linux/limits.h was made a 0 length file
linux/dirent.h had a line commented out (see source)
Anyway.... just thought this might add to the glimpse knowledge base....
(BTW I had the same problems with the Glimpse410 source, and the glimpse4x
binaries that I tried to use generated loader errors on this box....
since they were made on an OSF1 V4)
Also, I think my directive --prefix=/pub/www was ignored by the conf
script -- the makefile still had the /usr/local in it. I'm just lucky that
the prefix isn't compiled in, like on some programs!
Hope this is of help!
