Bingo... that was a big part of the problem. Also I had been playing
around with using different DocumentRoots and got somewhat confused
over which one I was using. ( he he) I've since include an SSI

<!--#printenv -->
</pre>
So I know what env is in force. Now I've developed a different
problem since searching is working now. Please see my post on gwdev
and gwuser if you are interested.
