Glimpse 4.12.6 beta release

Hi all

Morey Hubin's fixes and Michael Heironimus' improvements to the configure
script are out in Glimpse 4.12.6.  Works for me, and I think there's
nothing dangerous here...install if you're having trouble with missing hits
or record counts.

I'd be really interested to know on which systems the configure script
works, and where it needs help.  On my Linux box it still fails, though
just copying Makefile.linux over to Makefile works smoothly.  Anyone tried
it out there?

I'll try to get the other changes and suggestions incorporated soon!  Has
anyone tried Christian's shared library solution to speed up filters?
