Webglimpse speed-up, Glimpse under Cygwin!
Hello Webglimpse folks
A couple pretty significant new releases out for both Webglimpse and Glimpse:
(note - this announcement is cross-posted to the wgusers and wgdev lists -
most announcements are only sent to wgannounce)
Webglimpse 2.5.4 has a new option for greatly improved performance when
searching for common words in large archives - search speed can increase by
a factor of 30 or more! (if you are willing to limit to the most recent 50
or 100 hits)
Its also got an option to return full sentences instead of fragments;
several minor fixes; and output templates in Estonian,
thanks to Ragnar Kurm!
Glimpse 4.17.0 should compile _and_ run nicely under Windows with the
latest Cygwin compiler. Thanks to Tom Hudson at the University of North
Carolina for reporting this!
You can download both Webglimpse and Glimpse latest versions from
http://webglimpse.net/download.html
Please let me know if you run into any problems or have nice results,
particularly how Glimpse runs under Windows if you try that. Just respond
to this email with any reports, or enter proper bugs into bugzilla
http://webglimpse.net/bugzilla
Thanks, and enjoy!
